MOON

Moon is a first-generation American born in Long Island, NY - to a Guyanese mother and Bajan father - and raised in Northern VA.

Frequent road trips to her hometown through adolescense molded a blend of DMV and NYC upbringings (with Caribbean roots ever present). Moon began performing theatrically in secondary school, portraying characters such as Sarah in Ragtime and Tituba in Arthur Miller's The Crucible, for which she received a Cappie Award at the Kennedy Center.

Growing up, Moon wrote short stories and spoken word, designed theatrical sets, became trilingual, and spent half a decade as a carpenter's apprentice. Music, however, was a love inspired well before any other - likely in hours spent rifling through her mother's multi-genre CD collections. Somewhere along the way, her most memorable moments on a stage transformed from straight plays and monologues to open-mic nights and, now, gigs with "the boys."
